Sandy Brock Wins 2025 BSCES Horne/Gaynor Public Service Award

On Tuesday, June 3rd, Sandy Brock, PE, LEED AP BD+C, Vice President and Principal at Nitsch was honored with the 2025 BSCES Horne/Gaynor Public Service Award from the Boston Society Civil Engineers Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers Board of Government! BSCES states that this award is “given out annually to a BSCES member or registered professional engineer for unpaid public service in a municipal, state, or federal-elected or appointed post for philanthropic activities in the public interest.”

Sandy has over 40 years of experience in the civil engineering field, working directly with dozens of municipalities throughout the Commonwealth. She has served on the Grafton Conservation Commission for over 15 years – currently as Chair, and previously as Co-Chair from 2010-2022 – and is a member of the Grafton Community Preservation Commission, demonstrating her commitment to safeguarding Grafton’s natural resources and preserving its environment for the community. Sandy has been actively involved in the Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissioners (MACC) for decades, including serving on their Board of Directors since 2017; in this role, she has helped educate Commissioners across the Commonwealth so that they may better serve their communities. She has also represented MACC on the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection’s (MassDEP’s) Stormwater Advisor’s Group. Sandy spent two years designing and constructing rural water supplies in Malawi, Africa for the Peace Corps, which served a population of approximately 25,000.

Sandy has consistently shown her dedication to public service and building better communities throughout her career, and we couldn’t be more proud that she has earned this recognition.

Congratulations, Sandy!
