On Thursday, June 4th, Virginia Kilbourn, Marketing Manager at Nitsch, was honored by the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Boston chapter as the 2026 Chapter Leader of the Year. The award recognizes a member whose continued efforts on behalf of the SMPS Boston chapter have embraced initiatives that represent the mission and values of SMPS overall.
In recognizing the value that Virginia has brought to SMPS Boston, Britt-Anya Bursell, Marketing Operations Manager at Tighe & Bond and Past President of SMPS Boston, said:
“Virginia has been a dedicated leader within SMPS Boston for more than a decade. Beginning with her involvement on the Communications Committee and progressing through leadership roles as Co-Chair, Chair, Director, and Treasurer, she has been a constant source of support, guidance, and dedication to our chapter.
“I had the privilege of passing the Treasurer role on to her and I have seen firsthand the care, professionalism, and thoughtfulness Virginia brings to everything she does. She not only ensured the chapter’s financial health and stability but helped launch the inaugural Operations and Finance Committee, creating a framework for stronger financial oversight and long-term success. Even as her Treasurer term came to a close, she remained committed to supporting the chapter through her continued service on that committee.
“Whether she’s leading an initiative, mentoring fellow volunteers, or quietly working behind the scenes to keep the chapter moving forward, she approaches every challenge with dedication, positivity, and a genuine commitment to the success of SMPS Boston.”
In the 11 years we’ve had the pleasure of working with Virginia here at Nitsch, she has consistently demonstrated strong operational leadership and mentorship skills. We are so proud that she has earned this recognition from SMPS Boston. Congratulations, Virginia!
