When it comes to green infrastructure, how do you measure success?
Are performance metrics – such as volume of water captured or amount of pollutant removed per dollar spent on construction – the only things that matter? Or are the more intangible benefits – such as increasing the tree canopy, improving public health, and reducing energy costs – just as important for our communities?
On August 15th at 8:30 a.m., Jennifer Johnson, PE, CFM, CPSWQ, LEED AP BD+C, will moderate the panel Beyond Performance – Measuring the True Value of Green Infrastructure on Urban Communities at the International Low Impact Development (LID) Conference in Nashville, TN.
Jenn will lead a conversation about the many co-benefits of green infrastructure projects, offer case studies on actionable changes that are occurring in Massachusetts, and provide tools for attendees to use in their own communities to gain project support from citizens and decision-makers. The other panelists include:
- Neil Angus, AICP, LEED AP ND BD+C, Environmental Planner for the Devens Enterprise Commission;
- Ray Hyland, PE, ENV SP, LEED AP, Green Infrastructure Leader at Brown and Caldwell; and
- Kate England, ENV SP, Project Coordinator – Stormwater Infrastructure for the Boston Water and Sewer Commission.
