Scott Turner talking about smart & sustainable development at APA

The American Planning Association’s (APA’s) 2019 National Planning Conference – which kicked off on Saturday – is the premier planning event of the year, bringing together thousands of planners to discuss the hottest topics, share the latest tools, and hear from industry leaders. We’re excited to be there – especially since our Vice President and Director of Planning, Scott Turner, PE, AICP, LEED AP ND, is speaking this afternoon!

Corridors 3.0: Smart and Sustainable Redevelopment
Monday, April 15, 2:45 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.

Communities around the world are hosting pilot projects for smart city and transportation technology, with planners on the front line to scale the projects for future implementation. This requires planners to develop new strategies for anticipating trends, dealing with uncertainties, defining challenges and opportunities with disruptive technology, and managing transitions.

The complexities are even more pronounced when it comes to integrating new technologies into actual infrastructure, district, and site plans. How do planners, engineers, and architects develop plans and projects that meet today’s needs but also adapt as technologies evolve?

Join Scott Turner; Lisa Nisenson of Wantman Group; and Matthew T. Bucchin, AICP, Director of Planning with Halff Associates as they examine smart city and transportation trends and implications for communities of all sizes. Based on technologies covered in the first part of the session, attendees will then develop conceptual site plans and supporting policies for smart and green redevelopment.
