The West Cambridge Youth Center upgraded and expanded 30,000-square-foot facility includes an NBA-size basketball court, project room, computer room, teaching kitchen, community function room, offices, and meeting space.
Nitsch provided land surveying, civil engineering, and traffic engineering services for the renovation of an existing Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) building to include a Community Center and Youth Center for teen and pre-teen after-school programs. We designed site utilities, layout, and grading. We also assisted in permitting the project with the City of Cambridge.
The building was constructed in two phases to keep the VFW open during construction. Nitsch worked with the client to document the LEED stormwater management credits; the project achieved LEED Silver Certification.
