Nitsch Engineering Announces Expanded Board of Directors and New Shareholders

Sandra A. Brock, PE, CFM, LEED AP BD+C, Chief Engineer; Fayssal J. Husseini, PE, PTOE, LEED Green Associate, Vice President and Director of Transportation Engineering; and John M. Schmid, PE, LEED AP BD+C, Executive Project Manager, Civil Engineering, have joined Nitsch Engineering’s Board of Directors, joining Founding Principal and Chairman of the Board Judith Nitsch, PE, LEED AP BD+C; President and CEO Lisa A. Brothers, PE, LEED AP BD+C; and Executive Vice President and CFO Michael E. Kenealy, CPA. The six-person Board of Directors was elected by the firm’s shareholders (all of whom are employees) and is tasked with the responsible management of the firm.

Chelsea R. Christenson, PE, CPSWQ, LEED AP BD+C, Project Manager, Civil Engineering; Stephen D. Farr, PE, ENV SP, LEED Green Associate, Project Manager, Transportation Engineering; and Aaron A. Gallagher, PE, CFM, LEED AP BD+C, Project Manager, Civil Engineering, have become shareholders of Nitsch Engineering, bringing the total number of shareholders to 15.

About the New Members of the Board of Directors

Sandy Brock has over 28 years of experience in the civil engineering field, where she has developed considerable expertise in sustainable site design and stormwater management. As Chief Engineer, Sandy is consulted by staff on sustainable and engineering solutions to challenging projects. She is a member of the Board of Directors for the USGBC MA Chapter, and is co-chair of the Grafton Conservation Commission. Sandy graduated from the University of Massachusetts Lowell with a B.S. in Civil Engineering.

Fayssal Husseini has over 30 years of experience in providing transportation/traffic engineering design and construction phase services. As Director of Transportation Engineering, he is responsible for the daily operation, business development, and administration of the department. Fayssal serves as chairman on two subcommittees of the American Council of Engineering Companies/Massachusetts (ACEC/MA) Chapter Transportation Agencies Liaison Committee. He earned his M.S. in Transportation Engineering and B.S. in civil engineering from Northeastern University.

John Schmid has 26 years of experience in civil engineering, specializing in providing innovative site design services for development in the City of Boston. In addition to his expertise in working with the City’s decision makers, he assisted the Boston Redevelopment Authority and the Boston Water and Sewer Commission in drafting the city’s Groundwater Conservation Overlay District regulations. John is a member of the ACEC/MA Program Committee, is Vice-Chair of the Advisory Board Finance Committee for the Town of Hull, and is on the Hull Capital Planning Committee. John has a B.S. in civil engineering from Northeastern University.

About the New Shareholders

Chelsea Christenson has over 14 years of experience in providing site development and transportation design for public and private clients. As a LEED Accredited Professional and Certified Professional in Stormwater Quality, she has an in-depth understanding of green building/site design practices and principles. Chelsea is an active member of Women’s Transportation Seminar, where she currently serves as a member of the Public Arts Committee; and she is a member of the Town of Northborough Conservation Commission. Chelsea received her B.S. in civil engineering from Northeastern University, and is a graduate of the ACEC/MA Emerging Leaders Program.

Stephen Farr has 26 years of experience in the engineering field, centered around transportation engineering projects in municipalities throughout southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod. He has worked primarily with municipalities on developing projects that were programmed through the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) and constructed by MassDOT. Steve is also a certified Envision Sustainable Professional with the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure, and a LEED Green Associate. He is a member of the Town of Needham Conservation Commission. Steve received his B.S. in civil engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Aaron Gallagher has 16 years of experience in the civil engineering field, where he has become particularly experienced in designing utilities, site grading and layout, and stormwater management solutions, including Low Impact Development designs. Aaron has an in-depth understanding of local, state, and federal permitting requirements, as well as experience in consulting with clients on LEED projects. He is active in ACEC/MA where he is Vice-Chair of the Leadership Education Committee. Aaron received his B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and is a graduate of the ACEC/MA Emerging Leaders Program.
