GirlDay 2022 GirlDay 2022 GirlDay 2022

Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day 2022: Play a Virtual Game to Clean Up a River!

Nitsch Engineering is committed to helping inspire young women to consider a career in engineering. While our annual Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day has been virtual since 2020, we are excited to share two great virtual activities (and a chance to win a prize) for our 2022 annual event!

And stay tuned for more information on our 2023 event – which will be back in person!

Activity 1: Play CityZen Pollution Control & Enter to Win a Prize!

This year, we invite girls from 6th through 12th grade to play the Institution of Civil Engineers’ online game CityZen Pollution Control. In the game, which can take anywhere from 10-30 minutes depending on how involved the player gets, players act as an engineer who is trying to clean up a river – while taking the local community, environment, and budget into account, of course!

For a chance to win one of ten prizes, players can take a screenshot of their final score and submit it at the link provided below. Please make sure to review the instructions in the online form and submit by 11 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022! The players with the five highest scores will be able to choose a prize, and the rest of the participants will be entered into a raffle to win one of five more prizes!

Play the Game!

Activity 2: Watch a Virtual Panel of Female Engineers

Last year, we shared one of the most popular parts of our annual event: a panel of women engineers who share their experiences and advice about pursuing engineering as a major and career! We invite you to watch this 26-minute conversation if you didn’t get the opportunity to last year, with:

  • Jennifer Johnson, PE, CFM, CPSWQ, LEED AP: Project Manager at Nitsch Engineering (moderator)
  • Brittney Veeck, PE: Senior Project Engineer at Nitsch Engineering
  • Chanel Jackson, PE: Civil Engineer
  • Isabella Ventresca: Biomedical Engineering Student at UMass Lowell
  • Marina Fernandes, PE: Town Engineer for Town of Milton
  • Veronica Soto: Industrial Engineer
