Giving Back, Today and Always

Since 1989, Nitsch Engineering has been dedicated to building better communities with you. As we enter the 2017 season of giving, and we celebrate Giving Tuesday today, we’d like to share some of the charities that we’ve donated to over the past year. Maybe you’ll get an idea for where you could give back today as well!

United Way: Over the course of the year, Nitsch holds a number of in-office fundraisers to benefit United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley. This amazing organization unites thousands of donors, volunteers, human service agencies, government, and businesses to change the future for individuals and families in our region. We’re proud to support their work, and hope you will too!

Greater Houston Relief Efforts: When Hurricane Harvey slammed into Houston in late August, we were all heartbroken to watch the devastation. Nitsch channeled our annual anniversary donation to the United Way of Greater Houston. With stories coming out over the past weekend about the continuing struggles for tens of thousands of people, the area could certainly still use our help.

Caribbean Relief Efforts: Just weeks after Hurricane Harvey, Hurricanes Irma and Maria devastated the islands in the northeast Caribbean. Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands (St. Croix, St. John, and St. Thomas) – the home of 3.4 million and 103,000 US citizens respectively – as well as the islands of Barbuda, Cuba, Dominica, St. Martin, and the British Virgin Islands, amongst others, continue to struggle to recover. There are a number of good charities doing work in these areas, including the Tim Duncan organized Relief Fund for the US Virgin Islands, the World Central Kitchen which is serving meals in Puerto Rico, and a number of charities ranked by Charity Navigator.

Community Servings: Nitsch is proud to support Community Servings, which provides meals for individuals and families living with critical and chronic illnesses who are unable to shop or cook for themselves. In addition to providing meal delivery and nutrition education, this Massachusetts non-profit also has a food service job training program that provides assistance for people facing barriers to employment.

New England Center and Home for Veterans: Located in downtown Boston and offering services throughout the region, NECHV supports veterans by providing job training, meaningful employment, meals, and dignified independent living.

Movember: Finally, it’s not too late to donate to Nitsch’s Movember team, which has seven brave men growing mustaches to help address some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention. You can view photos showing their mustache growth here and donate to the Nitsch Team by Thursday, November 30th.
