Canstruction Boston 2017: Hunger CAN Not Pass!

Hunger is all around us: in Massachusetts, Project Bread reports that one in ten households are struggling to put food on the table.

But ONE CAN makes a difference.

Canstruction Boston is a unique competition that involves designing and building statues made entirely out of canned foods, which are then donated to the Merrimack Valley Food Bank. Since 2001, Nitsch Engineering has used healthy canned foods to build the best sculpture possible … and we’re proud to have won a few awards in the design competition along the way!

In honor of this year’s theme, “Folklore, Fairy Tales, and Mythical Creatures,” Nitsch Engineering built a troll under a bridge. Made out of 4,200 cans of fruits, vegetables, tuna, and beans, our fierce troll keeps hunger from crossing this bridge!

Special thanks go out to our amazing planning, design, and build team, who spent a lot of time and energy figuring out how to build the structure and procure the cans!
