Nitsch Engineering Wins a National Marketing Award for Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day

Nitsch Engineering, a civil engineering, land surveying, transportation engineering, sustainable site consulting, planning, and GIS firm, has been honored with a 2010 Marketing Communications Award (MCA) from the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS). Nitsch Engineering won second place in the special events category for their 2009 Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day: Designing and Building Bridges for the World program, which was co-hosted by HDR and was part of a national campaign to raise awareness of engineering among middle school and high school girls.

Nitsch Engineering has hosted Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day every year since 2002; each year, the program covers a different topic. As a women-owned business, Nitsch Engineering is concerned with the gender disparity that still exists in the industry: only 10% of practicing civil engineers nationally are women. The annual program allows Nitsch Engineering to benefit the engineering profession by empowering girls to excel in the fields of math and science, and teach them about careers in engineering, thereby helping to close the gap between the percentage of males and females enrolled in engineering programs across the country.
