Nitsch Engineering is providing civil engineering services for a new, 400,000-gross-square-foot psychiatric hospital that is pursuing LEED® Gold Certification. The new hospital will have 294-beds, allowing the Department of Mental Health (DMH) to close two out-of-date facilities.
In addition to working with the design team during the study phase, Nitsch Engineering provided utility design, layout, and grading for the building and site; we also designed a stormwater management system, including water re-use strategies and a surface drainage feature. We prepared early site packages for a boiler plant to facilitate the construction demolition schedule, and prepared an earthwork/utilities site package to accommodate the fast-track schedule of the project. The new hospital began construction in June 2008; Nitsch Engineering provided construction administration services for the new hospital, which was completed in 2012.
The project was built under DCAM’s Construction Management at Risk services.
