Nitsch Engineering is providing land surveying, traffic engineering, and civil engineering services for the design of the new 177,000-square-foot school that serves students from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. The new school, located at 100 Putnam Avenue, will include secure and separate areas for after-hours use; 60 spaces of underground parking; and a state-of-the-art teaching facility. The project is targeting Net Zero Energy and is expected to achieve LEED Platinum.
Our traffic engineering services supported the development of Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents, as well as the Construction Administration services, and Permitting Phases. We prepared a Traffic Impact Study (TIS) and the Transportation Demand Management Plan (TDM) for the preferred scheme selected during the feasibility study phase of the project, in accordance with the requirements of the City of Cambridge. Nitsch Engineering also prepared construction documents for the improvements on the adjacent roadways, including the design of a mid-block elevated crosswalk. Our design received approval from the Parking and Transportation Demand Management Planning Officer.
