Nitsch Engineering provided civil engineering services associated with the design of a 24,000-square-foot intermodal transportation facility for regional bus and future rail transit at the location of a former car dealership. We designed site improvements including an employee parking/drop-off area, bus berths, an access busway, new utility connections (sewer, water, drainage), drainage improvements, and a bio-retention system for stormwater treatment/management. The facility is the first municipal net-zero energy building in the state of Massachusetts. The project won the Federal Transit Administration’s 2013 Innovative Green Transit Initiative Award for Net Zero Energy.
